National Institute of Materials Physics (NIMP, Magurele - Bucharest, Romania) with its International Center for Training and Advanced Research (Centre International de Formation et Recherche Avancee - CIFRA) will host the International Workshop on Advances in Nanomaterials, to be held in September 17-21, 2018. This event will be split in two parts: (i) the scientific workshop (17-19 September) and (ii) the official opening of the International Center for Training and Advanced Research (20-21 September).
The workshop is the fifth scientific event of this kind, co-organized now by NIMP, CIFRA and the UNESCO Chair at Horia Hulubei Foundation, with the scientific and financial support of the Abdus Salam International Center of Theoretical Physics (ICTP) – Trieste.
The workshop, devoted to several domains of nanophysics, will be mainly focused to:
(i) Low dimensional systems and heterojunctions;
(ii) Size effects, quantum dots and nanomagnetism;
(iii) Spintronics and multifunctionality;
(iv) Photovoltaics, photocatalysis and photonics.
The workshop will put together researchers with different profiles - experimental, theoretical and computational physicists, chemists and engineers - providing an excellent opportunity for disseminating of the newest research results and preparation of new scientific projects. The lectures will be presented by active researchers in these fields, mainly from Central European countries.
Actually, a main objective of the workshop is to foster the regional scientific cooperation. Moreover, it is expected that the workshop will valorize the complementarities of scientific equipment and expertise in these countries. It is mainly oriented towards exchanging competences for the development of new materials and physical concepts for emergent nanotechnologies or renewable energy resources. Also, it will try to attract as much as possible the young researchers and students in the area.
